Employment practices liability insurance
Coverage against allegations of illegal or discriminatory hiring and firing practices, sexual harassment of employees, and so on. A form of commercial liability policy.
Employment related
Injury or illness that occurs while a person is working.
Empty buildings clause
A clause added to a fire policy covering an unoccupied building. The insured must notify the insurer when the building becomes occupied and advise on how the building will be occupied. The insured is required to pay any extra premium that may be demanded.
Empty Leg
Results from an aircraft primarily chartered outbound having cargo capacity inbound or vice versa. A cheap form of airfreight.
EMT basic
Also known as EMT-1 , represents the first component of the emergency medical technician system. An EMT-1 is trained to care for patients at the scene of an accident and while transporting patients by ambulance to the hospital under medical direction. The EMT-1 has the emergency skills to assess a patient’s condition and manage respiratory, cardiac, and trauma emergencies. Also see emergency medical technician (EMT) .
EMT intermediate
Also known as EMT-2 and EMT-3 and has more advanced emergency medical training that allows the administration of intravenous fluids, the use of manual defibrillators to give life-saving shocks to a stopped heart, and the application of advanced airway techniques and equipment to assist patients experiencing respiratory emergencies. EMT paramedic
Also known as EMT-4 and provides the most extensive prehospital care in an emergency situation. Also see emergency medical technician (EMT) .
Enabling bond
A bond required by insolvency practioners under the Insolvency Practitioners Regulations (minimum £250,000) in respect of the assets to come under their control in respect of each appointment taken and which has to be detailed on monthly bordereaux submitted to the holder’s bond insurer and relevant professional body.
Enabling services
Ancillary services that help patients to access medical care (e.g., shuttle transportation or translator services).
