By amendment of 2002 called “Legal services Authorities (Amendment) Act, Permanent Lok Adalat have to be established to cover “Insurance Service” and “Public Utility Service.” Lok Adalat is an alternative forum where cases can be compromised by both the parties with the intervention of the member Judges. They have jurisdiction to determine and arrive at a compromise settlement between the parties to a dispute, in respect of any case pending before or any matter falling within the jurisdiction of and not brought before any court, for which the Lok Adalat is organized. The Award of the Lok Adalat is at par with the decree of a Civil Court and is final and binding on all the parties to he dispute and no appeal lies in any Court against the Award.

Permanent partial disability (Health Insurance/Workers Compensation)
A disability the insured is impaired by, but not totally incapacitated by. The insured is still able to work in some capacity.
permanent partial disability (PPD)
1. In workers’ compensation cases, permanent disability with a rating of less than 100% permanent disability. 2. Disability that interferes with the injured worker’s capability to compete in the open labor market in less than a total manner.

Permanent partial disablement
Disability benefit payable when an injury leaves the insured working on a reduced basis as opposed to not working at all. The impairment is ongoing. The benefits are a proportion of the permanent total disablement benefit.
Permanent Partial for Disablement
Partial reduction in ability to do things and work that one could when in full health. The degree of disability will vary with the severity of the injury or illness. A provision generally found in accident and occasionally in sickness policies designed to offer some indemnity benefit if the insured cannot perform fully all the important daily duties of his occupation. This is a situation where as a consequence of the accident part of a body such as a finger, arm or leg) is permanently severed from the body. Although a part of body is permanently lost, yet the person will be in a position to attend to his duties partially if not to the same extent as before once the wound is healed completely and the person otherwise fit enough to attend.
Permanent selection
The exclusion from a group of lives of persons of a certain type with the result that the mortality rate of the group will differ compared to the population norm. Example: persons suffering from chronic diseases may be excluded from a group of lives acceptable for life insurance at ordinary rates of premium with the result that the insured group will have a lighter mortality rate.
Permanent total disability
1. Condition that prevents an insured from working because of injury or illness and presumably will last for a lifetime. 2. In workers’ compensation cases, permanent disability with a rating of 100% permanent disability only.
