Motor, Fire and/or Theft Only Cover Riders for Motor Insurance

Restricted cover for Fire and/or Theft only peril’s is permitted only if the vehicle is laid up other than due to accident. The customer may be advised to obtain a “Not in Use” endorsement from the RTA on the RC Book before such a policy is offered. However, restricted perils cover is prohibited for all vehicles under Class D (Miscellaneous and Special Types), Class E, F & G (Motor Trade Risks).

Motorised waterborne craft

Liability arising from use of waterborne craft is excluded in public liability policies as per the marine and aviation exclusion. In Bankers Insurance Co. Ltd v. South and Another (2003) a jet ski was held to be a motorised craft so the liability under the policy was excluded. Jet ski liability is also excluded under personal liability insurance.

Movables

In marine insurance this means any movable tangible property, other than the ship, and includes money, valuable securities and other documents unless the context or subject-matter indicates otherwise’ (Marine Insurance Act 1906, s.90).
