MEDCIN®
Reference medical terminology classification system created by the National Committee on Vital Health and Statistics that is used to code text data after they are captured by an electronic health record (EHR) system. It assists in the standardization of clinical point of care terminology used in EHRs.

Mediation
A form of alternative dispute resolution in which the parties agree to submit any dispute to a neutral mediator, whose purpose and goal is to achieve a mutually acceptable settlement and compromise of the dispute, rather than issue a formal ruling and decision on the merits as occurs in arbitration. Depending upon the parties’ agreement, the results of mediation can be binding or non-binding.

UK: An alternative dispute resolution approach to settling disputes. An impartial mediator helps the parties to negotiate. The process is not binding unless or until the parties reach agreement, after which the final agreement can be enforced as a contract.
Mediation (Legal Terminology)
An attempt to settle a dispute, involving an impartial third party who meets with the people involved in the dispute and tries to arrive at a mutually agreeable solution.
Mediation activities
Activities set out in the Regulated Activities Order 2001 as amended. The activities are: (a) introducing, proposing or carrying out other work preparatory to the conclusion of contracts of insurance; (b) concluding contracts of insurance; (c) assisting in the administration and performance of contracts of employment, particularly in the event of a claim. The FSA does not intend to regulate claims handling on behalf of insurance companies, expert appraisal or loss adjusting.
