Definition:
This is a slightly sarcastic way of inferring that actions that have previously exceeded expectations, will not be remembered in any future evaluations of your performance.
Explanation:
A more flowery way of saying “what did you do for me today?”, but said by the person lower in the organisation, and is a way of stating that a corporation or more commonly an individual of high rank in said corporation will discard resources with no reference to their previous work.
This phrase in its original context is denoting that angels do not remember the sins of sinners and therefore are forgiving of all previous sins. However, when used in a corporation, particularly when used by somebody of a reasonably low rank, basically means it doesn’t matter what they have done before. A senior manager or company will discard you if it will serve their own interests.
