Aarogyamithra

Aarogyamithra means first contact person for the Dr. YSR Aarogaysri Health Care Trust, State of A.P, for the beneficiaries at Network Hospital under the Scheme(s) of the Trust.

Aarogyamithra is a health friend, a novel concept added for the implementation of the Aarogyasri Health Insurance Scheme. They serve as conduits for the patients. Aarogyamithra are chosen from Self Help Groups and must be a graduate, native and resident of the same PHC area, and have good communication skills. Aarogyamithras must perform various tasks in various locations. For example, in PHC Hospitals, Aarogyamithras must promote and increase publicity and awareness, maintain a helpdesk at the hospital, receive beneficiaries, and verify beneficiary eligibility criteria. Facilitate consultations with doctors, fill out referral cards, guide and counsel patients about various facilities, and so on.

Aarogyasri Health Insurance Scheme

Since 2007, the government of Andhra Pradesh (India) has implemented a one-of-a-kind landmark Rajiv Aarogyasri community Health Insurance Scheme. The main goal is to provide quality healthcare to Andhra Pradesh’s marginalised population, and the scheme has so far covered approximately 230 lac BPL families. Aarogyasri Health Care Trust provides quality health care through a unique model that includes a tailor-made insurance policy administered by an insurance company and a self-financed reimbursement mechanism.
