Aarogyamithra is a health friend, a novel concept added for the implementation of the Aarogyasri Health Insurance Scheme. They serve as conduits for the patients. Aarogyamithra are chosen from Self Help Groups and must be a graduate, native and resident of the same PHC area, and have good communication skills. Aarogyamithras must perform various tasks in various locations. For example, in PHC Hospitals, Aarogyamithras must promote and increase publicity and awareness, maintain a helpdesk at the hospital, receive beneficiaries, and verify beneficiary eligibility criteria. Facilitate consultations with doctors, fill out referral cards, guide and counsel patients about various facilities, and so on.
