Certification provides professional training and certification for those responsible for planning, selecting, implementing, and managing electronic health records (EHR) and other health information technology (HIT). CPHIT designation indicates that the holder has mastered the common body of knowledge for an electronic health records professional and, in addition, has evidenced expertise in a variety of health information technology applications including CPOE and electronic prescribing.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
Individual who, after completing basic educational and appropriate training requirements in nursing, is trained for an additional time (about 2 years) in the administration of anesthesia and passes a certification examination administered by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. CRNAs are licensed to give anesthesia under the direction of a physician.
Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
Title received by a person after appropriate training and by passing a certification examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care, Inc.
Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR)
Professional certification received after passing a certification examination by the National Cancer Registrars Association, Inc. (NCRA). To maintain the CTR status, NCRA members and nonmembers are required to complete 20 hours of continuing education every 2 years.

Term used in HIPAA security Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for a pattern of agreements that extend protection of health care data. Each covered entity that shares health care data with another entity requires that that entity provide protections comparable with those provided by the covered entity, and that that entity, in turn, requires that any other entities with which it shares the data satisfy the same requirements.
