Federal long-term disability income program that gives benefits to disabled workers who are younger than age 65 and paid Social Security tax for a specific number of quarter-year periods.

Social Security Offset Rider (SIS)
If one is totally and permanently disabled with no hope of recovery for one full year, the insurance company can request the insured apply for social security disability benefits. Should the benefits be granted, the monthly benefit paid by the insurance company will be reduced by the amount paid by social security. If the insured is denied benefits by social security, the benefits paid by the insurance company will not change.
