Method used by a provider to group (collect) computerized transactions over a period of time and transmit them in a single operation either at night or in a time-delayed manner (e.g., daily insurance claims).

Space that is available for patient beds in addition to the number of beds that can be occupied in hospital units.
Bed conversion
Changing a bed assigned for one type of care to a bed designated for another type of care such as converting an acute-care bed to a long-term care bed. See also swing bed .
Bed count
Total number of beds maintained by a hospital or inpatient health facility for a designated patient population. Also called bed capacity or bed size .
Bed day, inpatient
Day spent by a patient in an available bed at the hour (midnight) census is taken in the hospital, excluding bassinet days. This includes the patients admitted and discharged for same-day surgeries.
