First Episode Review for: Nekogami Yaoyorozu

Summary : The adventures of a slightly delinquent cat spirit and other ‘small gods’

Animation : Simplistic animation, not quite ‘flash’ level but getting near there.

Plot Potential: Another ‘happy happy’, but ‘no plot’ job

Characters: Cutesy versions of classic Japanese spirits

Music: Standard cute music

Overall: Very much a background anime, classic chibi stuff. not much else to say really

First Episode Review for: Baka to Test to Shokanju Ni

Summary : School anime in which the leading male has a perverted sister who has banned him from making friends with girls, first episode has him and 7 other friends spending time at the beach (sort of like the 7th episode of most plot based anime)

Animation : Bright and colourful, makes a lot of use of manga hash tones (such as filling in the backgrounds with spots) I like the happy floating skulls when the old sister is angry, a fun touch

Plot Potential: None that i could see, short turn puns and quick laughs (that get quite dark by the end of the first episode) seem the order of the day, making this a very low stress anime

Characters: The full range of school types, but with enough variation to provide the odd unexpected action

Music: opening theme good, closing theme less so

Reminds me of: Doki Doki School Hours

Overall: plenty of none explicit innuendo and funny visual puns make this like an anime version of the ‘Carry on‘ movies , nice easy laughs though

First Episode Review for: Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel Kyun Kyun Tokimeki Paradise!!

Summary : Super cute girls that sound like talking cats save the world from not very bad baddies (their giant robots fire sticky balls and gas that turns you into a cat) who are stealing fruit themed valuable treasures

Animation : Primary colours only used here, more like western coloured manga than the detail we are used to with anime, but nice on the eyes and fun to see.

Plot Potential: No plot here, move along, nothing to see

Characters: Stock characters of the purest kind, 1 klutz heroine with short hair, 1 thoughtful heroine with long hair , 1 goth bad girl with long straight hair, etc etc

Music: Bouncy bounce, you could just add a base track and you would have 90’s happy hardcore.

Reminds me of:Dirty Pair Flash crossed with Sailor moon

Overall: These types of anime surface time and time again, because they are fun and inoffensive, I wont be missing anything ground braking if I don’t see an episode, but I will still be on the lookout for each one as they make you smile.

First Episode Review for: Kamisama no Memochou

Summary : About a boy with hardly any ‘pressence’ surrounded by mad new personalities who is dragged in the world of the NEET (sort of like private detectives that try and make the world better)

Animation : Subtle tones, and reliably well drawn, leaning on the realistic side but please stop doing cars in CGI, you have not got the hang of them yet

Plot Potential: Strong, its been a while since I have seen a good detective anime, and this one is shaping up well

Characters: Basic stock ones at first sight but even in the first episode they have added to them, the core characters have good interaction.

Music: Standard stuff, I’m skipping the opening and closing credits.

Reminds me of: A grimmer version of Gosick

Overall: This has quite strong adult content in that it deals with gritty subjects, its one you have to watch properly, but rewarding, if it continues in this way it will be an excellent series.

First Episode Review for: Sacred Seven

Summary : Loner with repressed super powers is recruited by super powerful corporation to save the world from ancient forces of evil ….. CLASSIC!!!

Animation : Really Really good, that nice mix of bright colours and high details, and no badly overlaid CGI that I could see

Plot Potential: Good traditional anime, “against the forces of evil” plot, hero with full blown “off the charts” super powers, bad buys that kill with no remorse and no pause (which is rarer)

Characters: Excellent characters, with the right mix of serious plot oriented ones and cheerful, likable people, I was grinning at the screen within 6 Min’s

Music: At last a soundtrack I want to go and buy and listen to in its own right

Overall: I thoroughly enjoyed this, its got everything a good anime should have, and the good guys initial super powered suit is really original, it even includes just the right amount of “fan service”, I will be waiting for this to come out each week, and it would be perfect for western audiences (providing they don’t screw up the dubbing)
