Good Driver Discount

To be eligible for the Good Drivers Discount all operators of the insured vehicles must have been licensed for three or more year, have no more than a one (1) point charge on their driving record and has not been determined “at fault” in an accident resulting in bodily injury or death to any person.

Good faith

UK: Acting honestly. It means the absence of fraud, but falls short of the doctrine of utmost good faith.

Most ordinary contracts are good faith contracts. Insurance contracts are agreements made in the utmost good faith. This implies a standard of honesty greater than that usually required in most ordinary commercial contracts.

Good Samaritan Law

Statute of Common Law providing that one who sees a person in imminent peril because of another’s negligence cannot be charged with contributory negligence when attempting a rescue, provided the attempt is not reckless or rash.

Goods

In marine insurance this means ‘goods in the nature of merchandise. It does not include personal effects or provisions and stores for use on board (Marine Insurance Act 1906, Schedule, Rules for Construction of Policy, rule 17). This rule also provides that deck cargo and living animals must be specifically insured and not insured as goods unless it is customary to do so.

Goods …… in trust or on commission

‘Goods in trust’, when written in a policy, does not imply a technical trust but includes holding goods as a bailee. ‘Goods held on commission’ has a more restricted meaning and refers to property entrusted to the insured for the purpose of sale. The phrase as a whole is wide enough to cover not only the insured’s interest but also the full value of the goods. Goods Carrying vehicles for Motor

These were earlier classified as “Private Carrier” and “Public Carrier” and are used for commercial purposes. According to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, goods carrying vehicle is called “Goods Carriage.” There is no categorization of Public Carrier and Private Carrier. However, they are still classified as public and private carrier for rating purposes under Class A.
