Painting Guide – Greater Possessed

Painter: Dultoriminis

Model(s): Space Marine “Start Collecting” Box (out of print)

Paint(s): Chaos Black Spray, Bugmans Glow, Cadian Fleshtone, Druchi Violet shade, Zandri Dust, Agrax Earthshade, Ushabti Bone, Screaming Skull, Abaddon Black, Dark Reaper, Fenrisian Grey, Leadbelcher, Retributor Armour

Method(s): Spray model Chaos Black for base coat

Armour: Start with a 1:1 mix of Abaddon Black and water, then cover the whole model, as mentioned in other posts this is so if we need to do any corrections we have the right black as the finish, as Abaddon Black and Chaos Black are slightly different. next highlight all the black armour with Dark Reaper, I would also recommend leaving a small gap between the gold tip and highlighting along these parts to add more contrast to the black. Lastly a fine highlight over the Dark Reaper of Fenrisian Grey.

Skin: Base Bugmans Glow, next mix Bugmans Glow and Cadian Fleshtone 1:1 and layer leaving all but the darkest recesses, highlight Cadian Fleshtone, wash with Druchi Violet, once dry, do a second wash in the recesses, this will give the grim bruised and sore looking skin, finally highlight once again with Cadian Fleshtone.

Bone: Base Zandri Dust, wash Agrax Earthshade, layer leaving darkest recesses with Ushabti Bone, wash with Agrax Earthshade, highlight with Screaming Skull.

Trim: Base gold trim with Retributor Armour, wash Agrax Earthshade.

Steel/metal bits: Base Leadbelcher and wash with Agrax Earthshade.

Paint Time: 4-6 hours

Notes: Take your time with the skin, this is what draws the eyes attention. as long as you get that right the model will look great.

Painting Guide – Blackstone Fortress: Ur-Ghuls

Painter: Dultoriminis

Model(s): Blackstone Fortress Main Box

Paint(s): Grey Seers spray, Aethermatic Blue, Magos Purple, Grey Seers base paint.

Method(s): This is a nice easy one. First Grey Seers spray base coat, once dry cover the whole model in Aethermatic Blue in the usual contrast way, when this is still wet apply Magos Purple to the hands, now with a clean damp brush blend the purple and blue on the wrist. Once fully dry do a light dry brush over the whole model with Grey Seers. Easy!

Paint Time: 30mins including drying time.

Painting Guide – Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress – The Dreaded Ambull

Painter: Dultoriminis

Model(s): Ambull from Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress – The Dreaded Ambull (discontinued)

Paints(s): Chaos Black spray, Night Lords Blue, Temple Guard Blue, Baharroth Blue, Naggaroth Night, Scale75 – Inktense Blue, Vallejo – Glaze Medium, Rakarth Flesh, Guilliman Flesh, Averland Sunset, Yriel Yellow, Fuegan Orange, Zandri Dust, Screaming Skull, Agrax Earthshade, Mephiston Red, Evil Sunz Scarlet, Screamer Pink.

Method(s): Spray Chaos Black for base coat,

For the main body, I’d recommend using an air brush though all steps can be achieved with a heavy dry brush.

Airbrush the whole model Night Lords Blue, next mix Night Lords Blue 2:1 with Temple Guard Blue, air brush this at a 45 degree angle above the model, its very important to not come from under the model as this is how we create shadows with the airbrush. Next mix Night Lords Blue with temple guard blue 1:1 and repeat the previous step, this time at a lesser angle from above the model (roughly 30-35 degrees). once that is fully dry repeat again with pure Temple Guard Blue at a 25 degree angle. lastly once that’s fully dry a light dry brush with Baharroth Blue will tie the model together nicely.

Next base claws and feet and carapace with Naggaroth Night. for the highlight mix 2:1 Naggaroth Night and Temple Guard Blue and highlight edges of carapace and feet/claws.

To create that shiny carapace we mix 1:1 Scale75 – Inktense Blue with a Vallejo – Glaze Medium, (any glaze medium will do, for example, Lahmian Medium, contrast medium, green stuff world glaze etc) the inktensity range has a very strong gloss effect but this works great for the carapace. With this mix we are just going to paint on the whole carapace like you would with any standard wash. once this is fully dry we highlight again with our previous highlight mix (2:1 Naggaroth Night and Temple Guard Blue)

For the hive boils (this term seems appropriate) base with Averland Sunset, wash with Fuegan Orange, and highlight with Yriel Yellow.

Eyes, base Mephiston Red, highlight Evil Sunz Scarlet.

Bugs, base Rakarth Flesh, wash with Guilliman Flesh

Mouth tendrils, base Screamer Pink

Tusks, base Zandri Dust, wash in a downward motion with Agrax Earthshade, once dry, repeat this only covering the bottom 75%, and once dry repeat at 50% and then again at 25%. finally highlight with Screaming Skull.

Paint Time: 12-14hours

Painting Guide – Necromunda Corpse grinder cult Ambot

Painter: Kitbash: Stickfight, Artist: Dultoriminis

Model(s): Ambot + Bits from the Rhino Chaos Upgrade kit

Paint(s): Spray Chaos Black, Spray Leadbelcher, Leadbelcher, Retributor Armour, Averland Sunset, Abaddon Black, Zandri Dust, White Scar, Blood Angel Red contrast, Nuln Oil, Agrax Earthshade.

Method(s):

Spray Chaos Black, Once fully dry spray Leadbelcher, once dry wash whole model with Nuln Oil and leave plenty of time to fully dry, and apply a coat of Agrax Earthshade over the whole model. For hazard stripes paint Averland Sunset, for the black stripes you can either pick them out freehand (the trick here is to be patient and confident with your lines, don’t go too slow either as I find this is where you get the most wobble) or you can use tape, whatever you decide paint the lines with Abaddon Black, for skulls base in Zandri Dust, wash Agrax Earthshade and finally a 1:1 mix of Zandri Dust and White Scar for the highlights. for the armour panels base in Retributor Armour , Once fully dry paint a thin layer of Blood Angel Red contrast. ( due to the opacity of contrast you can generally see though many of the contrast colours to an extent, this makes them great over metallic as they will keep the metallic effect)

Paint Time: 4-6 Hours
